Want List Review by Scott Noriega

BACH Suite. Partita No. 3. Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue. Partita No. 6. BACH-VOROBJOVA Adagio T. Vorobjova MDG 921 2311-6 (SACD)

Latvian harpsichordist Tatjana Vorobjova’s Bach … con Passione recital on MDG was one of the real discoveries of this last year for me. Her playing of these works is not just technically assured, but musically satisfying: The pacing perfectly suits the improvisatory sense, while also capturing the driven qualities of this music. You’d be hard pressed to find a more exciting, yet also colorful, interpretation of either the Sixth Partita or the Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue. And one captured in such phenomenal sound!
