Fanfare Contributor Bio

Nicole De Sapio

I became interested in opera and in music criticism while an English major at George Mason University. My fascination with recordings goes back to my young childhood; as a teenager in the 1990s, I was a collector of Broadway cast albums, and with my more recent operatic interest, I am currently the “curator” of my own colossal, private collection of CDs in both genres. I recently published my first book (Verdi’s Rigoletto: A Select Discography with Commentary) and am developing two opera-themed screenplays I plan also to novelize. I am the older sister of experienced Fanfare contributor Michael De Sapio. I live in Alexandria, Virginia.
